Sonic Rivals 2

2007年11月に北米と欧州で発売されたPSP用ゲーム｢Sonic Rivals 2｣。
前作｢Sonic Rivals｣のレース、カードシステムにバトルモードを加え、さらに操作キャラクターを大幅に増やしてのシリーズ2作目。

以下、その概要とカード一覧表など。

Story Mode : ソニック&テイルス、ナックルズ&ルージュ、シャドウ&メタルソニック、シルバー&エスピオ の4組のストーリー。同じストーリーを2度プレイして全8人分を進めることになる。ステージは共通だがZone6-Act2はストーリーモードではシャドウ＆メタルソニック編でしかプレイすることができない。

Act1 ：主役とライバルのレースモード(タイムアタックなどの場合もある)
Act2 ：主役とライバルのバトルモード(Knock Out,Ring Battle,Tagなど)
Act3 ：パートナー同士のレースモード(タイムアタックなどの場合もある)
Boss ：主役とライバルでボス戦に挑む。どちらが先にボスを倒すかの勝負

Single Event Mode : キャラクターとライバル、ステージを自由に選んでプレイできる一人用モード。Act2(バトルモード面)ではさらに6種類のバトルから選択。アドホックマルチプレイヤーモードでも｢Single Event｣を選択できるが、｢Single Event 100回勝利チャレンジ｣は一人用での勝利数しか加算されない。

Battle Mode : 6種類のバトルがあるがストーリーモードでは主に｢Knock Out｣戦になる。
* Knock Out : リングゼロ状態でダメージを受けると負け。
* Tag : バクダンのなすりつけあい。バクダンの持ち時間制限制。
* Ring Battle : 制限時間内に多くリングを集めたほうの勝利。
* King of the Hill : オモチャオの照らす場所に居座った者ガチ。ポイント制。
* Capture the Chao : 相手陣地のチャオを自陣地に持帰る勝負。
* Laps Race : レース面の一部を使っての周回レース。

Free Play Mode : 自キャラクター1人でレース面(Act1/Act3)を走れる練習モードだが、タイムやブースト回数などは記録として残る。
* 10匹チャオ：一ステージに10匹のチャオが配置されており、それを集めるモード。一度に10匹見つける必要はない。
* タイムアタック：画面右下にベストタイムがカウトダウンで表示される。

Multiplayer Mode : アドホック、シェアリングで他のプレイヤーと対戦することができるモード。
* Wireless Play : アドホック。PSP2台とソフト2本が必要。
｢Single Event｣、｢Cup Circuit｣の他、｢Card Trading｣もできる。
* Game Sharing : シェアリングプレイ。ソフト1本でゲームをもう1台のPSPに配信して対戦することができる。バトルモードのみ。

Cup Circuit : 3ステージで勝敗を競うモード。8キャラクターそれぞれのストーリーをクリアすることで選択可能になる。一人用とアドホックマルチプレイヤー用では賞品カードが異なる。

今作ではカードは｢完全固定制｣となり、それぞれの｢チャレンジ(ミッション/お題)｣をクリアすることにより与えられる。レースやバトルに負けてもお題をクリアしている場合はカードを得られる。お題の一部にはマルチプレイヤーモード(下の一覧では背景色を変えているトコロ)が含まれており、シングルプレイだけではコンプリートすることはできない。
｢Challenge Summary｣、または｢Card Collection｣面で、｢お題｣を確認することができる。

その他・くだらない情報と雑感

* 新キャラクター
SonicRivals2ではただの敵キャラと呼ぶには勿体無い｢新キャラクター｣が登場するが、主人公ソニックはその存在を知ることがない。

* 手抜き150カード
前作では、メタルソニック3枚一組カードを集めるとメタルソニックが使えるようになる、カオスエメラルドカードで対応したカップ戦が開くなど、カード絵柄にも意味が含まれていたが、今作ではチャレンジ内容とカード絵柄は殆ど関係がなく、100％コンプリートカードにすら意味が与えられていない。

* Single Event 100回勝利チャレンジ
毎度メインメニューまで戻されるこのゲームにおいて、最も困難で根気が必要なチャレンジ。手っ取り早く勝利回数を稼ぐには、Zone4-Act2のKnock Out、1ラウンド戦がオススメ。上手くいけば5秒以内で決する、長くても20秒。
